Human Connection

I want you to stop for a moment and take a deep breathe in, feel your lungs as they fall and collapse under your control, notice how much time it takes, what it feels like, put your hands over your tummy and acknowledge your lungs. You are breathing with ease, majority of us do this 24 hours a day 7 days a week without noticing. There are people in this world who are scared that with each breathe it may fall short of their last - not due to a fear of dying but due to an illness. If you are not one of these people then thank your lucky stars every morning when you wake up and every night as you go to sleep. Our bodies are so powerful and magical. We have the power to communicate through human touch, we cry when we are upset and can feel the warmth of someone's hand comforting us. A hug from a loved one, a high five, a caress of a finger tracing down your body, a pinky promise when we were kids that we never seem to outgrow. In all these ways we are allowing your bodies and minds to become one through touch. It is so much more than sex, it is a physical embodiment that connects us together; mind, body and soul...

In some ways anxiety can sometimes feel like this, it becomes hard to control your breath and everything around you is blurred out for a split second. Even in these moments I am grateful that human touch and connection is what has always allowed me to feel grounded and calm through my mothers hugs, her kisses that leave a rose like stamp on my heart - beautiful and sweet. Each one different from the rest but exactly the same. I know the phrase "just breathe" can seem impossible and helpless during these times, but trust me I will never take those words for granted. Hold someone dear to you. Don't let them go. Feel their skin brush against yours as you laugh, cry or smile together.

What a beautiful moment to experience timelessly in each new day.
